Bio
My holistic approach to therapy is based on the belief that we all carry an internal wisdom inside ourselves that never forgets. Many of us have been given the message that we are not ok to be who we are. We are either “too much” and/or “not enough”. We have often been placed in roles by our family of origin at a young age, and for many of us, this becomes our identity. The individual therapy I provide is a process of unraveling those roles placed upon us, discarding those that are unhelpful and getting back in touch with the True Self. I feel honored to be given the opportunity to help guide and bear witness the connections made between the past and the present by the people who trust me to work with them. As an internal family systems informed therapist, I utilize the process of tapping into the uninjured, pure self to provide a pathway to heal past trauma by rewriting a true authentic narrative.
I collaborate with couples to find new strategies to live the life they envision with a direct but compassionate therapy style. I am trained in the Gottman method, utilizing their extensive intake process and treatment planning. I weave a variety of other modalities into our sessions, including psychodynamic therapy (specifically surrounding early attachment), emotion focused therapy, and internal family systems. In relationships, we tend to look to others to heal our past wounds, but often feel confused and let down when our expectations are not met. I offer a structured environment, where each person gets time and space to share what their core needs are. Since each therapeutic relationship differs, I structure our time together in a way that supports the couple, whether that includes a shorter term, solution focused route, or a longer, more depth-oriented approach. I am also trained to work with couples who have been affected by affairs, and firmly believe it is possible to come back as a stronger and more connected couple when using a mindful and structured approach when processing betrayals.
