Couples-Gottman Method
With over five decades of research, the Gottman method is the standard for science backed couples therapy. Utilizing Gottman Connect, we assess all our couples to better understand their strengths and challenges as a couple from each partner's perspective. When setting goals I collaborate with my couples to form a holistic treatment plan that best encompasses the facets of what makes relationships work, utilizing the Sound Relationship House. Practicing using the tools and skills is embedded in the work I do with couples.
Parenting
Parenting can be overwhelming and leave us feeling uncertain about how to best support our kids regardless of their age or stage of development. Therapy can provide support to navigate the challenges of raising children by providing guidance and support and skill building. Co-parenting can be another challenge that many parents face, and I can provide research backed and evidence based tools to help you feel more confident that you are doing this well and resourced.
Attachment & Relational Issues
Attachment science has helped us better understand the importance of the ways in which we connect with ourselves and others. Attachment based therapy helps to improve unhealthy and insecure forms of attachment, through developing healthy attachment patterns based on trust and intimacy. As a person centered therapist I value working with individuals and couples using this modality as they seek connection and wellness in their relationships.
Bio
When working with clients, I aim to build a strong therapeutic alliance by attuning to their heart’s story and supporting them in the areas where they feel the most stuck. I am dedicated to creating a caring environment that allows people to explore, comprehend, and inspire change within themselves and their relationships.
I work from a trauma-informed, attachment-based, psychodynamic framework that focuses on people’s relationships across the entire lifespan, including those with primary caregivers, friends, romantic partners, siblings, neighbors, colleagues, and the relationship with self.
Treatment plans incorporate a range of evidence-based modalities drawn from The Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to guide the healing process.
I work with couples, families, and individuals with a particular passion for supporting those with attachment and relational issues.
Prior to working at Path to Bliss Wellness, I’ve worked for Community Mental Health, Educational Settings, and Correctional Facilities as a Certified Recreation Therapist Specialist. I hold a Master of Arts in Mental Health Clinical Counseling, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Palo Alto University, California and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Alderson Broaddus University, West Virginia.
Beyond my professional life, you can find me going on nature walks, playing sports, reading books from my favorite mental health professionals, and spending time with my kiddo trying to be the most present mother possible.
