Bio
Having had the honor of working in education, mental health, and helping professions for over 20 years, I have come to believe that with support, the answers to many of our struggles can be found within. I believe that we each hold valuable insight and wisdom into our own healing and are deserving of dignity and respect on this path.
I identify as a lifelong learner both in and outside the classroom. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and studied art at Pacific University. I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling from California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco emphasizing multicultural, feminist, and liberation perspectives. My training in treatment of trauma is influenced by sensory motor psychotherapy and somatic approaches acknowledging that the body holds our experiences and is deeply connected to our wellbeing.
I approach therapy from a holistic and integrative lens and often incorporate self-compassion, mindfulness, and behavioral approaches. I work with couples using the Gottman framework in addition to my other training. I have special training and experience working with dynamics of relational and systemic abuse and domestic violence. I also incorporate Internal Family Systems therapy in my work which acknowledges the systems and dynamics at play both within and outside us. I enjoy getting to know and working with the individual strengths each person brings to therapy.
In my personal time I love to travel, spend time in nature, and value wellness, community, and family. I find that these values are integral to my own growth, work, and living a joy filled sustainable life. I look forward to meeting you.
